If you spent more than a few minutes on Outlier, DataAnnotaion, Alignerr, or any other Ai training platform, you would have seen an empty queue. You may need the money now, but the system doesn’t always care.
That has come to be a natural part of AI training. One day you get three invites, and the next day only one is still valid, and the day after that you may be on nothing. You can avoid this by widening your stack, and not overlying on a single platform.
I’ve recently found a new one that can fill in the gaps with some easy work: Pila8.
It is a voice training platform backed by Y Combinator (the same accelerator that launched Airbnb and Dropbox), and right now, they are aggressively recruiting new users with a cash bonus.
What is Pila8?
Pila8 is an audio data collection platform. They aren’t looking for programmers or scientist, they are looking for people who can speak.
AI companies need millions of hours of human speech to train their models to understand different accents, dialects, and tonalities. That’s where you come in.
- The Job: Record short voice clips based on prompts and instructions on your screen.
- The Languages: The requested languages changes often. When I wrote this, they were looking for English, Portugese, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Albanian, Arabic, Indonesian, Greek, Thai, Romanian, Malay, and Turkish. Many of these are paying bonuses.
- The Pay and Bonuses: The pay is 1 point per minute of approved audio. However, Pila8 leans heavily into bonus payments.
